ANNUAL CHARLOTTE
LITERARY FESTIVAL DREW IN
THOUSANDS OF BOOK LOVERS

By Crystal Myrick
(September 11) Not even Hurricane Hanna could keep me from the 2008 Charlotte
Literary Festival, one of the hottest events in the Southeast.

The all-day event drew in thousands last Saturday (9/6) to the Charlotte Convention
Center to listen to some of the literary world's best authors and speakers.

This year's talented line-up included Susan L. Taylor (
Essence Magazine); Rev. Michael
& Rickie Beckwith (
The Secret); Mike Minter (former Charlotte Panthers player); Mary B.
Morrison (
Sexcapades); Omar Tyree (Flyy Girl); Michelle Andrea Bowen (Holy Ghost
Corner
); Terrie Williams (Black Pain) and the always controversial author Karrine
Steffans (
Confessions of a Video Vixen).

Several sponsors and vendors were present to meet and greet with book lovers and
authors were on hand to sign and sell their literary masterpieces.

Special thanks to Darren "Jaz" Vincent (Director of the Charlotte Literary Festival &
Owner of
Realeyes Bookstore) and Jameka Whitten (JSW Media Group) for their
professionalism and for allowing TheBlackSpotlight.com to shine a light on this annual
event.
