been treated and benefited from a Miss Bling's stylish creations.
Born Shavonne Owens but best known throughout the media world as the Bling Diva (Miss Bling if you're nasty),
she is rapidly becoming known as the one to see if you are looking for a little Bling in your life. With an assortment
of Swarovski Crystals and an ordinary everyday item, Miss Bling gives it her unique Blingy touch.
Not only is the Chicago native a Bling connoisseur, but she also owns and operates her own online radio show, a
clothing line and launching September 1st, her own online publication, Extreme Bling Magazine.
In between her various projects, Miss Bling speaks with BSL about her blingy start, where she sees her career
heading and what she would bling out for the former Illinois senator.
BSL When did your fascination with "Bling" start?
Miss Bling Diva, my fascination with bling started from birth I believe! Seriously! My mom and I just figured it out
like this year when the question came up from someone else. She spoiled me and she brought me a color tv
when I was 2months old for my first Christmas in 1980. She said I would always watch it! At 2months! Lol! The
fascination started there with colors from the TV and shiny toys and clothes.
BSL When did you get your first break and you were revered as the one to see if you want to get
bling'ed?
Miss Bling That was in May of 2006. It was already going around that I was blinging things in my neighborhood,
but when I was driving down Madison, Chicago’s busiest street on the Westside and saw Bishop Don Magic Juan
standing outside in front of the car wash called “The Deck”, I had my sunglass case in the truck and pulled over to
show him the glasses I created called the Don Juan Stunnas and it kicked off from there!
BSL What are some things you have bling'ed out?
Miss Bling Oh wow! Well… my specialty is the sunglasses! I have always loved sunglasses! Then I started
blinging cups. I’ve blinged a few of my personal handbags, my cell phones that I now call blinglines, picture
frames, scissors, mirrors, my headphones for the studio, a variety of other crazy things!
BSL What has been the craziest request that you have received so far about having something
bling'ed?
Miss Bling An anonymous person asked me to bling an urn! Yes an urn! The other crazy thing was blinging out a
Jason Mask for C-Murder. I thought it would be crazy to bling out a Jason Mask, he said he would wear it in a video.
BSL Who have been some of your blingy clients so far?
Miss Bling Mama Bling, some of my family and friends and I can’t forget the random people around the Chi that I
started blinging glasses for. As far as celebs Bishop Don Magic Juan, Twista, Snoop; Shy aka Mona Lisa from
Flavor of Love 3, Kevin Hart, and Beyonce! I’m just finished glasses for my first international clients; Shauna
Bettencourt, the Award winning Author in Canada and The infamous LDV. She’s a singer that resides in Paris and
co-writer of the book Making it Mainstream with Shauna. Now I’m finishing up on Jim Jones and Slim Thugga and
custom blingy stunna shades. I created some for The Game, they got the design of his tattoo on the shades!

BSL What is the price range for your blingy products?
Miss Bling The prices vary. It depends on how much or how little you want. I can bling anything you send my
way! Anything! I want to bling different things to showcase in my magazine. The general price for a pair of shades
starts around $50.00 and cups start around $150.00. Everything is designed with genuine Swarovski crystals and
its hand crafted one crystal at a time. Now, I prefer to work with corporate companies but I will still do things for
people if they put in a request for my blingy services.
