SPOTLIGHT:
WILLIAM MCGLENN

He's going after his 7 Figgaz
(June 16) Statistics show that African Americans contribute nearly $630 billon to the
economy, $22.9 billon which goes to clothing industries. William McGlenn is ready for his
slice of the pie.

His lifetime dream to own his own fashion line began at a child while he watched his mother
who was a seamstress. Now McGlenn's dream has come to fruition.

Through his vastly growing clothing line,
7 Figgaz, the Charlotte native is using his 15+
years in screen-printing to put his fashion venture in the forefront when it comes to his
competition. While other popular apparel is esteemed for its unique design and captures
the urban appeal,
7 Figgaz also incorporates positive and encouraging messages such as
GO GETTA, Be A Boss and Smart Women Finish First. The overall goal for the company
is to promote and ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in the urban/hip-hop culture.

TheBlackSpotlight speaks with McGlenn about the next hottest clothing line, his future goals
and what lessons he is instilling in his children.

BSL When you decided to create a clothing line, what were some challenges you
were faced with?
WM
I guess the biggest obstacle was finances. Because, my line is entirely self-funded and
has been since I started it.

BSL How long has 7 Figgaz been in production?
WM
7 Figgaz has been in production for the past 18 months. It's been in development for
about 3-4 years.
