HIDING IN HIP-HOP: Confessions of a Down Low Brother in the Entertainment
Industry
by Terrance Dean (Release Date: May 13, 2008)
Undeniably the one of the most anticipated tell-alls of the year is from former MTV producer
who reveals his closeted homosexual moments with music and Hollywood stars. Although
Dean is not dropping names, an Atria spokesperson states that the descriptions are so thinly-
veiled that readers will easily be able to understand who he is referring to.

BOBBY BROWN: The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But (Release Date: June 1,
2008)
His life was his prerogative and decided to release a book about it. Excerpts are already
spreading throughout the Net from his autobiography about the former New Edition star and
his 15-year marriage to Whitney Houston. In just a matter of a week, Brown has revealed that
Whitney introduced him to cocaine, Janet Jackson drove him to drinking excessively and
Karrine Steffans received the infamous nickname, Superhead for a reason. If he has already
revealed that much information, what is there left to tell?

Breaking the Code of Silence by Alana Wyatt Smith (In Stores Now)
The name may sound unfamiliar to most but she can be seen using what her momma gave
her in Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot. The video girl has her own story to tell her tell-all
about her brief marriage to conscientious lyricist Dante Smith, A.K.A. Mos Def. Smith also
used this new venture as a way to tell about her life prior to entering the industry.

SEX & CELEBRITIES: The Truth, the Whole Truth, The Naked Truth by Lisa
“Goldengirl” Natson (Release Date: September 25, 2008)
One of Philly’s most prominent DJs, GoldenGirl is also dishing out the dirt on her past sexual
conquests. With the self-owned title, Black Barbie, she rats on Ralph Tresvant, Allen Iverson,
Jim Jones, Ice T & Coco and her scandalous encounter with rapper Lil Kim that she later
reveals was only a fantasy. GoldenGirl will also include advice for women about getting their
game right.

My Brother Marvin by Zeola Gaye (Unconfirmed Release Date)
Zeola Gaye, the sister of the late legendary crooner Marvin Gaye, has her own book coming
out soon. Gaye will uncover the mystery surrounding his life before the fame and what would
cause a father to kill his own son.

With the vast tell-alls and autobiographies hitting the market, what is the thin line between
using one’s book as a way to warn others about your experiences versus just attempting to
obtain fame by kissing and telling?
