Washington makes being bad look good
(February 18) The hottest film of 2007 will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray tomorrow.

Denzel Washington stars in the true story film, American Gangster as Frank Lucas, a Harlem
heroin kingpin who smuggled the drug into the United States by way of American military
service planes in the 1960s.

In opening weekend, the film debuted at number one with $44M despite the fact that the
bootleg was released on the Internet a week before. Worldwide the film grossed nearly
$246M.

Legendary thespian Ruby Dee's role as Mama Lucas scored her an Screen Actor Guild
Award for Supporting Actress and her first Academy Award nomination. On February 14th,
the NAACP honored her with the Chairman's Award.

The film also stars popular rap artists RZA of the WuTang Clan, Common and Clifford "TI"
Harris.

The American Gangster 2-disc features the theatrical release, an unrated extended version,
an alternate ending, deleted scenes and commentary from the film's director Ridley Scott
and writer Steven Zaillian.
