(May 15) One of the only predominant award shows left to shine a spotlight on the
achievements of African Americans, the BET Awards is returning for its seventh year.
It is the same exciting show that brought Teena Marie and the now late Rick James
together for their last duet and a surprise appearance by Michael Jackson and him
performing alongside his idol, James Brown.
The BET Network has recently announced their nominees for the BET Awards 08 and has
the Bartender-loving artist T-Pain in the lead with five nominations. Kanye West and
Keyshia Cole comes in second with three nominations while Mary J. Blige, Flo Rida and
Alicia Keys received two nods.
This year's Humanitarian Award goes to music mogul Quincy Jones and the Rev. Al Green
will be the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
Those gracing the stage this year will include Usher, Mariah Carey , Lil Wayne, Mary J.
Blige and Nelly. The celebrity host and presenters have yet to be announced.
The BET Awards show will air LIVE on Tuesday, June 24th at 8:00 PM.
