NC MUSIC FESTIVAL
INCREASES SICKLE
CELL AWARENESS
Local artists jam together for a
good cause
(April 20) TheBlackSpotlight.com was in attendance to witness an assembly of the hottest
indie talents from right here in the Triangle. Presented by Majestique Events & Gifts CEO
Charna Little and Royalty Entertainment, the DC2NC Music Festival was organized to not
only shine a light on extraordinary artists but to also raise the awareness of Sickle Cell, a
very common but overlooked illness amongst African Americans.
A multitude came out to the mini concert last night held at the Downtown Event Center on
West Martin Street to enjoy such performers as Kooley High, Mixed Water, Kas Da God,
Da Poet Tim Jackson, King and Sonya Marie.
Some could call it leading ladies night as Rhapsody of hip hop group Kooley High and
Brandi Hancock of the soulful Mixed Water rocked the stage while the fellas accompanied
them with original rhymes and sweet renditions.
Kas Da God of Flavor Fruit Entertainment represented the Bull City (Durham, NC) and lit up
the stage with his Heavy Metal Hip Hop. He told the crowd they were getting a million
dollar performance and that we did. As the host of the evening, Da Poet Tim Jackson left
the audience in awe as truer words never spoken echoed through building. BSL exclusive
with Mr. Jackson coming soon!!
Indie artist Sonja Marie travelled across the country from CA to NC to grace the stage
numerous times with her West Coast flavor and melodic spirituality that only she could.
Lastly, King, the headman of Royalty Entertainment and DC native ignited the stage with
his high energy and stamina.
Overall, a night of great performers without the drama and negativity. TheBlackSpotlight is
all for it!
