WILL "MEET THE
BROWNS" MEET
BOX OFFICE
SUCCESS?

Can Tyler Perry do it again for
the fifth time?
(March 21) If one hasn’t seen or heard of producer/writer/actor Tyler Perry, then one would
wonder if they were hiding in the same cave as Osama Bin Loden for the last five years.

Perry, the man single-handedly responsible for reigniting Black cinema with comical yet
memorable and meaningful characters, while at the same time embedding themes into each of
his films.

With his signature character, the statuesque, gun-in-the-purse, cigarette smoking, cop-dodging
Mabel Simmons, or best known as Madea, the Perry empire has generated more than $200M
in ticket sales. His success has also moved to television in the series,
House of Payne and will
soon cross over to animation featuring a more kid-friendly Madea character. A favorite
nominee amongst the NAACP, the once homeless Perry has received numerous Image
Awards, most recently for his film that got everyone questioning their relationships,
Why Did I
Get Married
.

Under the distribution of Lionsgate, Perry is back with his fifth theatrical release,
Meet the
Browns
, a tale of love, family relationships and second chances. During an interview on the
Steve Harvey Morning Show yesterday, David Mann, who plays the hilarious Mr. Brown
described the film as a dramedy because of its ability to have you laughing one moment and
pulling out a tissue the next.

Starring a sensational cast of wonderful talents including Angela Bassett, Rick Fox, David
Mann, Tamela Mann, Jenifer Lewis and many more, some critics are giving the movie rave
reviews while many message boards are comparing the plot to
Meet the Browns to an urban
version of
Meet the Parents starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

Why Did I Get Married brought in $21.4M its opening weekend. Will this be a Good Friday for
Tyler Perry’s
Meet the Browns when he hits theaters today? History says, we think so.
